Kids-in-mind.com boasts "ratings that work" using a system of three elements and a scale from 1-10. Just like most ratings, they are objective based on the viewer, but I've decided to use this rating system to give a clearer idea of what you're getting into when you select the movie. The three elements (in this order) are: Sex & Nudity, Violence & Gore, Profanity. When you go to the site, there is a detailed list of what they viewed in the film to arrive at that rating. This is a far more accurate system than the MPAA's nebulous G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, X ratings. One might occasionally run across movie with no sex, no violence, and rated R only because the 'F' word was used 4 times. For an example, The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring was rated 1.7.1. It gives a synopsis, discussions topics, and even thematic elements. The KIM rating will be listing as a link so you can click on it to go to the KIM site to read about it if you want to. Click on the LOTR rating above to see it on the KIM site. Note: I will only have KIM ratings on movies that the reviewers on KIM have rated; I won't make up my own. Also, I can only guarantee the ratings on movie I review, and I'll add them to existing reviews as I go along and have time to hunt them down. The rating will be listed in the thread title unless the title is too long. The link will be in the thread itself. Most movies prior to 1990 are not rated except those they deem worthy. Hope this is a useful addition.
