This little side bar project of George Lucas is a nice little fantasy film. It occasionally lags with the characters taking an inexplicable amount of time to accomplish things. It's not so much that there is a lot of screen time, but there are a few overnight things that made me wonder why these things would take so long. And then this Queen Bavmorda tries to instill a sense of urgency that her staff never delivers. Val Kilmer's character is never fully developed and his love interest is equally thin. The ritual is convoluted at best and though it factors into the final climax, we are left to pick up the pieces as to how.
It's a fun little quest movie that is better if you just let it flow and don't put too much thought into it.
