I have just completed the first draft of this slice of life script. It follows the lives of five teens and their parents after the life-changing events from the summer eight months ago.
Daryl had met a girl named Angie at the church camp he goes to every year, and they had a very intimate relationship while there. She says they can't speak again, but his life is haunted by her memory.
Liz is Daryl's friend and really likes him, but he is hung up over this girl from camp. To make her life more complicated, Her parents split up sending her mother into an alcoholic binge, but that's just the tip of that iceberg.
Angie turns out to be pregnant from her experience with Daryl much to the horror of her socialite mother, who is having her home schooled and locked up in the house to make sure her socialite friends don't find out what a horrible mother she is. Angie wants to keep the baby. Mom wants it gone.
Anya is Angie's older sister and an aspiring model -- or that's what her mother wants. Her mother's over-insistence that Anya drop more and more pounds to please the camera sends Anya into an anorexic spiral that nearly kills her.
Mike is Anya's boyfriend who is just getting out of juvenile hall for grand theft auto -- an incident that occurred eight months ago as well. Mike and Anya reunite (again, to her mother's chagrin), but this is overshadowed by Mike's prior gang affiliation. With Mikey on the street, his buddies want him to help with another job. Mike just wants to stay clean.
If you thought Jagged was pretty good, I like to think this one is even better. I mean, it has a little car chase in it. You can't go wrong with a car chase, right?
EDIT: Read the latest draft of After Last Summer.
